Three T20Is and three ODIs will make up the white-ball series between Sri Lanka and India. The show will air from July 27 through August 7.

Three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on July 27, July 29, and July 31 will mark the start of the series. Three One-Day International (ODI) matches at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on August 3, August 5, and August 7 will take place after this.

Wanindu Hasaranga led Sri Lanka to a heartbreaking elimination from the just finished T20 World Cup 2024. They were eliminated after suffering back-to-back defeats to Bangladesh and South Africa, winning just one during their campaign against the Netherlands. The team and administration have undergone substantial changes as a result of this lackluster performance.

After the World Cup, Hasaranga resigned from his position as captain. With the promotion of vice-captain Charith Asalanka to captain, the team has entered a new chapter. A significant change has also been made to the squad, with the inclusion of Sadeera Samarawickrama, Dhananjaya de Silva, Dilshan Madhushanka, and Angelo Mathews. Dinesh Chandimal is scheduled to play his first T20I since February 2022, marking a noteworthy return.

However, important players’ injuries have complicated Sri Lanka’s preparations. Due to injury, Dushmantha Chameera and Nuwan Thushara will not be playing in the T20I series. Asitha Fernando and Dilshan Madushanka, respectively, have taken their places. The coaching staff has also undergone changes, with Sanath Jayasuriya named as an interim coach following Chris Silverwood’s decision to resign following the T20 World Cup.
