The Pakistan Cricket Board has recruited Tim Nielsen, a former Australian first-class player, as the new red-ball high-performance coach to help the team rebuild after a difficult spell.

The move follows the appointment of former Australian speed bowler Jason Gillespie as red-ball head coach.

A PCB source revealed that Nielsen, who has coached the Australian squad for four years, was suggested by Gillespie since they both worked at the South Australian cricket academy.

The PCB stated that the move is intended to help the squad prepare for the next Test series against Bangladesh.

Prior to the series against Bangladesh, PCB stated that Nielsen had already joined Gillespie’s support team and that the two of them would be keeping an eye on Pakistan’s training camp.

In a two-Test series, Pakistan will play Bangladesh, with the first game set to take place in Rawalpindi from August 21 to August 25. The second Test is scheduled for August 30 to September 3, in Karachi.

Azhar Mahmood, a former Test player, is still employed by the PCB to support Gillespie and white-ball coach Gary Kirsten.
