West Indies’ squad for the three-match T20I series against South Africa has been announced.

A formidable 15-player team has been announced by Cricket West Indies (CWI) for the forthcoming three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series against South Africa, which is scheduled to start in Trinidad on August 24. Regular captain Rovman Powell will lead the team, and his deputy will be Roston Chase.

Senior all-rounders Andre Russell and Jason Holder are notable absences from the team since they have been rested for the series. Alzarri Joseph, who missed the most recent Test series against South Africa, remained unavailable. Joseph served as vice captain for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2024. Brandon King, the opening batsman, is also recuperating from a side injury he suffered during the T20 World Cup.

However, the addition of right-arm bowler Matthew Forde, who also participated in the bilateral series against South Africa slated before to the 2024 T20 World Cup, and left-handed batter Alick Athanaze, who made an impression during the most recent Test series, has strengthened the roster.

“Facing a strong South Africa side is an excellent opportunity for our team to reset and refocus with our game plan,” Bascombe said, expressing his confidence in the chosen group. This should be an intriguing and significant series because we have played them previously with varying degrees of success. I have faith in the team we’ve put together, and I believe the boys will be eager to demonstrate their competitive spirit at the next T20 World Cup in 2026.
