Praveen Jayawickrama, a spinner for Sri Lanka, has been banned from all cricket activities for a year for breaking the anti-corruption rule.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) punished Jayawickrama with three code violations in August after he obstructed an inquiry and neglected to disclose a plan to manipulate matches.

After that, the 26-year-old acknowledged breaking the anti-corruption rule.

“As a result of the admission, Jayawickrama has accepted a sanction of a one-year period of ineligibility, of which the last six months are suspended,” stated the International Criminal Court.

According to the ICC, Jayawickrama was contacted to arrange for the fixing of international matches and instructed to get in touch with another player to arrange for the fixing of matches in the Lanka Premier League for 2021.

After taking 11 wickets in his first Test match against Bangladesh in April 2021, Jaywawickrama was granted his debut on the international scene.

In June 2022, he made his last appearance for Sri Lanka. He has participated in five Test matches, five One-Day Internationals, and five Twenty20 Series.
