2025.05.20
Sunrisers Hyderabad registered a clinical six-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants in Match 61 of IPL 2025 at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium.
At Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated the Lucknow Super Giants by a commanding six wickets in Match 61 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Heinrich Klaasen’s steady 47 off 28 and Abhishek Sharma’s explosive 59 off 20 balls helped SRH chase down the mark with 10 balls remaining as they chased 206. Despite scoring a strong 205/7 in their innings, LSG, captained by Rishabh Pant, are now eliminated from the playoff race as a result of this defeat. LSG had a solid basis thanks to the quick half-centuries of Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram, but their bowlers were unable to stop the SRH top order from going on the rampage.
Abhishek Sharma‘s explosive 59 off only 20 balls, which included four fours and six sixes, got Sunrisers’ response off to a fast start. LSG’s bowling rhythm was destroyed by his 82-run partnership with Ishan Kishan in just 5.5 overs. Kishan, who contributed 35 off 28 balls before falling to Rathi, was the anchor. Heinrich Klaasen made sure the pursuit continued on course by finding boundaries frequently, even if there was a slight lurch with wickets in the middle. After a brilliant 32 off 21 balls, Kamindu Mendis retired injured, but his contribution had already helped SRH go closer to the goal. The match ended at 206/4 in 18.2 overs as the winning runs were hit in the 19th over. With Akash Deep leaking 33 in three and Ravi Bishnoi falling for 26 in his lone over, LSG’s bowlers were inept, signifying a collective bowling failure.

LSG rode on a dominant 115-run opening partnership between Marsh (65 off 39) and Markram (61 off 38), who batted first after being put in. With ten fours and eight sixes between them, both batsmen dominated early on, but once they fell, LSG found it difficult to pick up speed in the latter stages. Despite a fast 45 off 26 from Nicholas Pooran, the middle and lower order collapsed under the strain. Important wickets were taken by Harshal Patel and Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Eshan Malinga’s 2/28 kept LSG from reaching the 210-mark. LSG scored just 11 runs in the last 7 balls, with just 6 runs coming from the penultimate over. That proved decisive as SRH chased down the total comfortably, pushing LSG out of the playoff reckoning in what has been a disappointing campaign under Rishabh Pant’s leadership.
