The two-time reigning Olympic champion cleared 6.28m at the first attempt to break his own mark of 6.27m from earlier this year. He spoke to Olympics.com after his historic effort.

This time, Mondo Duplantis did it in front of his Swedish home crowd.

At the Stockholm Diamond League on Sunday, June 15, the two-time Olympic champion pole vaulter broke the previous world record with a first-ever clearance of 6.28 meters (20 feet 6 inches).

After topping 6.27 meters in the All Star Perche competition in France earlier this year, this is the 12th time the Swedish superstar has actually raised the bar in the discipline.
