Carlos Alcaraz defeated a disgruntled Novak Djokovic to win back his Wimbledon men’s singles championship.

Despite the fact that the players in question replicated the final of the previous year, the five-set thriller from a year ago was not up to par, as Djokovic was largely outmatched by the formidable Spaniard.

Alcaraz lost three championship points when attempting to win quickly, but he regained composure and raised his arms in triumph after overcoming the third-set tie-break 6-2 6-2 7-6 (7-4).

Alcaraz accepted the medal from the Princess of Wales and remarked, “Honestly, winning this trophy is a dream for me.”

“I did an interview when I was 11 and I said my dream is to win Wimbledon.”

After his crushing defeat, Djokovic was kind in defeat and gave Alcaraz a nice hug and grin at the net.

Djokovic was trying to match Roger Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon men’s titles for the second year in a row.

In addition, the 24-time major winner was attempting to pass Margaret Court and become the only person to hold the record for the most Grand Slam singles victories ever.

Although Djokovic has had many incredible days at Centre Court, he is unlikely to remember this particular one.

Alcaraz, celebrating his 14th consecutive match win at Wimbledon, stepped up to the players’ box as per current practice and was jumped upon by his teammates and family.

The outcome keeps the four-time major champion’s perfect record in Grand Slam finals intact, and he makes history by becoming the youngest victor of both the French Open and Wimbledon in the same year.

Alcaraz declared that Spain’s triumph over England in the Euro 2024 final later on Sunday night made it the ideal day for him and his nation.
Alcaraz only won in straight sets twice before the final, and for the most part, he had looked far from convincing in the Championships this year.
