2024.10.23
The Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 Team of the Tournament, which includes exceptional players from seven different sides, has been revealed by the ICC.
With three players from each country (including the 12th player), the players from runners-up South Africa and victors New Zealand make up the majority of the lineup. The esteemed selection also included stars from Bangladesh, India, England, Australia, and the West Indies.
The captain of the Team of the Tournament is Laura Wolvaardt, who guided South Africa to the championship event’s final. Wolvaardt led the Proteas women well and had an outstanding campaign as a bats woman.
Tazmin Brits of South Africa is also included in the squad due to her outstanding batting efforts during the competition, which were crucial to the team’s run to the championship game. The left-arm spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba is even a representative of the Proteas.
Danni Wyatt-Hodge of England was a highlight for her squad because she regularly had strong starts at the top of the order. In a number of games, her aggressive powerplay strategy was crucial for England.
Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of India, also guaranteed her spot in the team. Kaur, who is well-known for her strong hitting, once again showed off her batting prowess in the ICC tournament. Nigar Sultana of Bangladesh, who performed admirably behind the wickets and made significant contributions with the bat, joined her.
While Afy Fletcher, also from the West Indies, was one of the most economical bowlers in the competition, taking important wickets with her deft variations, West Indies veteran Deandra Dottin’s aggressive batting brought force to the middle-order.
Rosemary Mair of New Zealand and Megan Schutt of Australia complete the bowling assault; both players are reliable, particularly under duress. Both Schutt’s yorker accuracy and Mair’s ball-swinging prowess made them invaluable members of their teams. Eden Carson, a right-arm off-spinner and Mair’s colleague, was selected as the team’s 12th player.
