The Sunrisers Hyderabad vs. Delhi Capitals IPL 2025 match was called off because of a damp outfield.

Despite a dismal season, the devoted Orange Army showed up in force at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Monday, May 5 to cheer on their side, Sunrisers Hyderabad, creating a sea of orange. After their pivotal game against the Delhi Capitals was called off owing to a wet outfield, their campaign was declared over and they were eliminated from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 playoff race.

The game had an electrifying atmosphere, and for the first time in weeks, it seemed as though SRH might finally produce a victory that would bolster morale. The spectators were filled with optimism as Pat Cummins’s explosive bowling unit destroyed Delhi’s top order. Rain was the party spoiler this time, but cricket usually has its share of unpredictable events. The match was abandoned when only the first innings was finished, denying Hyderabad a chance to bat, hence eliminating SRH’s chances of making the 2025 playoffs.Cummins was outstanding with the new ball, knocking out the top three Delhi batsmen during the Powerplay and removing the fourth with a deft catch. The Capitals were rocked by his blazing spell, falling to four runs in the opening six overs.

In the middle overs, the SRH pacers kept up their pressure, keeping close lines and consistently taking wickets to limit DC to a lackluster 133/7. But with to the steady innings of Impact Player Ashutosh Sharma (41 off 26) and Tristan Stubbs (who offered much-needed solidity), Delhi’s bottom middle-order made a crucial comeback. Hyderabad was poised to confidently pursue the small aim, but a relentless downpour put a stop to things. Both teams were forced to split points since the rain arrived at the conclusion of the first innings and prevented the second from starting. As the competition enters its final stretch, the Delhi Capitals have maintained their hopes of qualifying by moving to 13 points, only one point outside of the top four, even though SRH are now officially out of the playoff race.
