Alexander Zverev defeated Nicolas Jarry in straight sets with a commanding serving performance to win his second Italian Open championship.

The German third seed won 6-4 7-5, dropping just five games in the process to claim a sixth Masters 1000 title.

With the French Open starting on May 26, Zverev has already risen to the fourth spot in the world rankings and sent his competitors a warning.

But he said, “Let me enjoy this one for a few days first. The focus is definitely on Paris.”

“For me, Rome holds great significance. It’s evident that this week is really remarkable.”
Jarry, a competitor from Chile, was in his first-ever final at this level.
In the quarterfinals, the world number 24 defeated the sixth-seeded Stefa

nos Tsitsipas, but despite his best efforts, he was unable to counteract Zverev’s arrow-like serve, which found its mark 80% of the time.

“He’s playing huge,” Zverev said of his opponent, who advanced to the final by defeating Tommy Paul of the United States.

“I can see by the opponents he has beaten this week, that he is playing incredible tennis.”I informed him that he would win several more titles at this level if he continued to play that way.”
